Two buses will be available for the participants of the FISSS2011. One will leave the metro station "Barra Funda" in São Paulo on May 15 at 9:00 am. It will then head to Guarulhos Airport to pick up people who will arrive in São Paulo by airplane this same morning. It is expected that the bus will leave the airport at about 11:00 am to Maresias. The second bus will depart from the Observatório Nacional, in Rio de Janeiro, that same day, to Maresias at 9 am. A small stop over in São Jose dos Campos is programmed to pick up participants from that city. Both buses will also be available for returning from Maresias to São Paulo / Guarulhos Airport and Rio de Janeiro on May 19, departing at 2:00 pm from the Hotel. We expect that the bus heading to São Paulo will pass by Guarulhos Airport at about 5:00 pm. Therefore, we advise planning your return flight according to this timetable.
People who marked in the registration form the option of using our transportation to Maresias but do not plan to return on May 19 on the same buses should let it know to our secretary when registering.
Brazilian transportation regulation states that all buses that transport passengers between cities carry a printed list with the names and ID number of all passengers. Therefore, people who choose to travel to Maresias on either of the two buses provided by the LOC must send to us his/her name and ID number (RG for Brazilians, passport number for foreigners) via e-mail (fisss2011@lna.br). We emphasize that without this information you will not be allowed on the bus.
From São Paulo, via Rodovia dos Imigrantes or Anchieta: Take one of those routes until you reach BR 101 (Rodovia Rio-Santos) and then head towards Rio de Janeiro. Drive straight to Maresias passing by Guarujá, Bertioga, Boracéia and Boiçucanga. Total distance: 170 kms.
From São Paulo via Mogi das Cruzes: Follow the Airton Senna Highway until Mogi das Cruzes. Then head towards Bertioga. At the crossroads after you come down from the mountains, follow the route to São Sebastião, passing Boracéia and Boiçucanga, until you reach Maresias. Total distance 185 Kms. This alternative is
shown in the map below.
Obs: The journey by car usually lasts 2 hours 45 minutes, when there is no traffic.
From the São Paulo Airports Cumbica (international flights) or Congonhas, catch the bus straight to the Tietê bus station (the main and biggest bus station in São Paulo). There, take the bus with the company called Litoranea which passes through Maresias. To make enquiries by phone call +55 11 6221 0244. Pay Attention! Maresias doesn't have a bus Station. You must ask the driver to stop in Maresias by the 24 hours Bradesco cash point (ATM), which is in front of Maresias Beach Hotel. The journey lasts approximately 3 and a half hour by bus.
Note: Taxis rates to Maresias are around US$250. Make sure they charge you the average rate. There are maps at the airport. You will find taxis clearly marked at the airport right outside of baggage claim. For generalities, say you are going to Litoral North near to São Sebastião, to Maresias Villa, near to Boiçucanga and Camburi. Ask the driver to take the "road BR 116 North to Arujá and then ask him to take the road that goes to the LITORAL - MOGI BERTIOGA - SP 098" over to the city of BERTIOGA at Litoral Norte. After one hour drive you will arrive at Road SP 055 named RIO-SANTOS, the driver should go NORTH towards São Sebastião, he will drive for another one hour over 50 miles and then will be arriving in Maresias.
