Título: Stellar populations in the Palomar Galaxy Sample

Resumo: We request 3 nights with the Blanco/COSMOS instrument to obtain high signal-to-noise, high resolution, optical spectroscopy of a sample of Palomar galaxies for which we already have GNIRS near-infrared data in hand. Our aims are to further the study of the stellar populations in these galaxies and 1) determine whether they show the trend seen in massive ellipticals that the index of the bottom-heavy IMF correlates with mass, and 2) obtain optical-to-NIR fits of single stellar populations, a panchromatic approach to the modeling of the star formation history of galaxies that has never been attempted before.
