Título: Search for a magnetic WD in V5579 Sgr (Nova Sgr 2008)

Resumo: We propose to obtain time-resolved polarimetry and photometry of V5579 Sgr (Nova Sgr 2008). There is a hint of a 16-minute periodicity in K band from VVV data, which we would like to confirm using fast cadence optical data (I band). If confirmed, this periodicity could be associated with the rotation of a magnetic white dwarf. Recently, many novae have been revealed as magnetic cataclysmic variables, but it is not clear if the WD magnetic field is a relevant ingredient in nova explosion detonation mechanism. This proposal is also a first step to determine the fraction of novae that harbors a magnetic CV.
